At McGowan Outfitting we pursue high country mule deer with archery, rifle and muzzleloader equipment. During archery season, we encourage our elk hunters to add on (combo or incidental) deer to complete their hunt. In Idaho, a deer tag may also be used to tag a bear, wolf or mountain lion. Most of our mature mule deer bucks are found at higher elevations in September and October. Rifle elk hunters have the option to combo their hunt during the time the elk and deer seasons overlap (please inquire). Our deer hunts are aggressive and physically demanding. The country is rugged, rocky and typically not suitable for extensive horse travel. Expect to hike and to hike hard. McGowan Outfitting offers a late season muzzleloader hunt with excellent opportunity for a large, mature mule deer buck.
McGowan Outfitting mule deer hunts will be rover style hunts. Hunters can expect to utilize their own two feet to travel the hills in search of that dream buck. Hunters can combo rifle mule deer with their elk hunts between the dates of 10/10-10/24.
